What it is

The Floral Affair is TheBubblyGem's collection of floral dresses with a soft, lightweight fall. It was released in numbered chapters, Drop 01 to Drop 04, and joined by a follow-up style, Mirabel 2.0. Most styles carry lace detailing, the sleeves measure 55 to 64 cm on the size charts, and every style is cut in sizes XS to XL and offered in eight prints or colourways. One style is a two-piece set, so you can wear the pieces together or on their own.

Who it's for

Women who want a floral dress that is still covered and easy to wear: for brunch, for celebrations, for Raya visits and for weekends when you want to look put together without stiff fabric. It also suits mums who want a front zip, and anyone who likes a little lace without a formal cut. It also makes a thoughtful gift for someone whose wardrobe is already full of florals.

The five styles

• Belinda (Drop 01): a returning favourite in eight new prints, in airy chiffon with a relaxed tiered fall, lace trim and a full lining. The concealed front zip is marked nursing friendly
• Wendy (Drop 02): a romantic, relaxed dress with delicate floral prints, lace trim and a tiered shape, in lightweight chiffon with a full lining
• Lily Set (Drop 03): a mock-neck top that ties at the back, with full balloon sleeves, and a flared skirt to match. Fully lined, and the pieces can be worn apart
• Cassandra (Drop 04): a stand collar, gathered bodice, tie-bow cuffs and crochet lace at the waist and hem, with a tiered, flared skirt and side pockets. Lightweight chiffon, fully lined
• Mirabel 2.0: an airy, fluid fabric in a botanical print, with fine lace along the seams, a button front and an elongated silhouette

Occasion & styling

Floral dresses work best when the rest of the outfit stays quiet. A few ways to wear them:

• Brunch and celebrations: the tiered shapes of Wendy and Belinda are easy to wear all day, and the lace gives them enough detail to dress up with simple accessories

What to look for

• Length: across the four dresses the flat-lay length runs from 130 cm to 150 cm. Compare that row with a dress you already own and like before you choose a size
• Sleeves and layering: sleeve lengths run from 55 to 64 cm, so check the armhole row if you plan to wear a shawl or inner layer
• Lining: Wendy, Belinda, Cassandra and Lily Set are fully lined, which gives the lightweight fabric more coverage
